Filip Sladecka and Stefan Rosina were the first to set the bar in the opening Fanatec GT2 European Series practice session at Spa-Francorchamps this morning, Sladecka’s blistering flying lap snatching the top spot in the closing stages of the 60-minute session.
The KTM X-Bow crew steadily built progress throughout the series’ first official track session of SRO Speed Week to take the challenge to the #11 PK Carsport Audi, after Stienes Longin and Nicolas Saelens dominated early on.
The Brabham Automotive Factory Racing outfit finished second, Anders Fjordbach and Kevin Weeda mounting a stellar recovery to finish 0.248 off the #15 KTM, after a lost wheel hampered their early efforts. Pro-Am championship leaders Longin and Saelens rounded out the top three.
Fourth overall, Michael Doppelmayr and Elia Erhart also led the Am-class contingent as the LP Racing Audi duo look to carry on their Misano race one-winning form here at Spa. Splitting the Pro-Am runners, they place ahead of the Audis of Aurelijus Rusteika and Michael Vergers (High Class Racing) and Bert Longin and Peter Guelinckx (PK Carsport).
Second in Am, Leonardo Gorini clocked in just 0.049s shy of sixth overall in the LP Racing Porsche, with an even smaller gap of 0.029s between Gorini and current class leader, Henry Hassid.
An Am class winner at Spa last year, Sahedi Sarmini and new team-mate Kris Rosenberger had a solid session to finish ninth in the #16 KTM, with Gianluca Giorgi and Alessandro Baccani completing the top 10 in the Ebimotors Porsche.
The second one-hour free practice session of the day is scheduled for 13:30.
