PK Carsport returns to the fore in second free practice, Erhart retains Am advantage

Pro-Am class leaders, Stienes Longin and Nicolas Saelens returned to the top of Fanatec GT2 European series order in the second free practice session at Circuit Ricardo Tormo this afternoon.

Stienes Longin was quick to take the initiative early on in the final 60-minute session ahead of all-important qualifying later this afternoon, and it took much of the remainder of the session for the field catch his benchmark time of 1:36.249.

The PK Carsport Audi, however, had to hold off a late attack from Brabham Automotive Factory Racing’s Anders Fjordbach who came within 0.327s of Longin’s time in the closing minutes.

Stefan Rosina, who shares the Pro-Am lead with the #11 PK Carsport crew coming into the penultimate round, placed third 0.088s ahead of the sister PK Carsport Audi of Bert Longin. The gap to fifth was even closer, with LP Racing’s Elia Erhart time just 0.063s adrift to claim the fastest Am time for the second time in as many sessions.

Two tenths of a second further back, current Am class leader Henry Hassid completed his preparations for qualifying in sixth, ahead of High Class Racing’s Michael Vergers and LP Racing guest driver, Stefan Costantini.

After a quieter session for the rest of the KTM contigent, Klaus Angerhofer finished the session in ninth, while Leonardo Gorini completed the top 10.
