The PK Carsport crew of Nicolas Saelens and Stienes Longin set the fastest time in free practice for the second time today at Circuit Paul Ricard, ahead of the all-important qualifying session of this season this evening.
The Audi duo built their pace over the first 20 minutes of the one hour session, initially moving up to second spot before overhauling the sister car of Bert Longin and Nicolas Saelens with a blistering time of 2:05.269.
Brabham Automotive Factory Racing’s Anders Fjordbach came the closest to Stienes Longin’s top time to slot into second just 0.173s adrift, leaving Longin Sr third.
LP Racing’s Henry Hassid, who races alongside his son Maxime for the first time in France, returned to the top of the Am class timesheet after trading times for second overall with series newcomer Gilles Vannelet in the early stages.
Outright title contenders, Stefan Rosina and Filip Sladecka delivered another solid session to sit fifth fastest, ahead of a fierce fight for sixth. Whilst Vannelet bagged that spot, the #911 Porsche of Leonardo Gorini was only 0.155s off the #24 KTM X-BOW in seventh.
Hubert Trunkenpolz and Klaus Angerhofer came closer still, within 0.036 of Gorini, with Sehdi Sarmini and Kris Rosenberger 0.1s further back. Gianluca Giorgi and Alessandro Baccani completed the top 10.
All efforts now turn to qualifying at 18:40, which will set the grids for the final two races of the Fanatec GT2 European Series season.
