The big achievers of the 2022 Fanatec GT2 European Series season were recognised during a glittering SRO Awards ceremony, held in London last Saturday, November 26.
Taking place at Magazine London, right across the River Thames from Canary Wharf, London’s financial district, the Awards evening brought together the entire SRO family of championships; including the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS, Intercontinental GT Challenge, the Asian and American GT World Challenge arms, plus FFSA French GT, British GT and the Fanatec GT2 European Series
The hundreds of attendees were treated to music and light shows across the evening, before the prize-giving itself got underway.
In the Pro-Am awards, PK Carsport Audi R8 LMS GT2 drivers Nicolas Saelens and Stienes Longin took home the drivers’ championship ahead of True Racing KTM X-Bow pairing Stefan Rosina and Filip Sladecka, with Bert Longin and Peter Guelinckx finishing third in their PK Carsport Audi.
In the Am category, Henry Hassid got his hands on the biggest trophy, courtesy of seven wins aboard his LP Racing Audi across the year. That put him clear of Gianluca Giorgi (Ebimotors Porsche 911 GT2 RS CS) and Leonardo Gorini (LP Racing Porsche) in second and third respectively.
The Fanatec GT2 European Series returns for its 2023 campaign next April, with the opening round taking place at Monza in Italy on April 22/23. A pre-season test has also been scheduled at Dijon in France on March 14.
