The Fanatec GT2 European Series kicked off its first ever race weekend at Circuit Dijon-Prenois with the first free practice session of the weekend this morning in France.
The PK Carsport Audi duo of Peter Guelinckx and Stienes Longin were the first to get to grips with the 3.88-km circuit ahead of the third-round championship battles this weekend. Last year’s Pro-Am champion, Longin set the bar with the best time of 1:17.174 to top both the Pro-Am and outright order.
A brace of LP Racing Audis then locked out the top three, with Pierre Kaffer and Michael Doppelmayr securing P2 by 0.2s from Henry Hassid and Anthony Beltoise.
Race one victors at the Red Bull Ring two weeks ago, Benjamin and Mauro Ricci clocked in fourth fastest in class aboard the Akkodis ASP Team Mercedes-AMG GT2. Stephane Ratel and Mattia di Giusto (LP Racing Audi) completed the session fifth in Pro-Am ahead of Marco Holzer and Chrisoph Breuer in the Manthey Racing Porsche which rejoins the field this weekend.
Ebimotors dominated the Am times, with Leonardo Gorini heading the sister Porsche of Michael Doppelmayr and Mantas Janavicius, while triple class winner so far this season, Jan Krabec completed the top three in the RTR Projects KTM.
The second free practice session is scheduled to take place at 11.50 ahead of qualifying at 16.30.
