True Racing confirms Angerhofer & Sarmini for Am class return

True Racing has confirmed the first of the team's full-season entries for the Fanatec GT2 European Series Powered by Pirelli, signalling the Austrian team’s firm Am-class title intentions with the return of Klaus Angerhofer and Sehdi Sarmini in the #16 KTM-XBOW GT2.

The all-Austrian team and driver duo were a force to be reckoned with last term. In their first season as team-mates, Angerhofer and Sarmini claimed a trio of class wins - earned at home at the Red Bull Ring, Portimão and Valencia - amongst a haul of nine podiums. They remained among the title favourites right up to the final two races at Circuit Paul Ricard, chasing Jan Krabec all the way for the class crown.

Finishing second overall in 2023, the close friends both on and off the track return as serious contenders for the 2024 Am title.

“I am looking forward to the upcoming season, which promises exciting races with great tracks and a fantastic starting field,” says Angerhofer, ahead of his third term in the series.

“Motorsport is our passion and being able to do it with your best friends over years is something wonderful. The whole True Racing team has grown into a powerful and strong team over the last few years.

“And yes…of course we want to fight for the championship again this year and we are well prepared for that. We are ready to race’!”

Sarmini adds: “Klaus and I had a very successful and harmonic partnership during the 2023 season, mainly because we are best friends also off the racetrack.

“It is a privilege to race with our friends at KTM True Racing where they give us the feeling of being part of the big KTM racing family. We are proud of our Austrian race car, and our Austrian team. We stay humble for the season ahead, but for sure we are ready to race!”

The Fanatec GT2 European Series Powered by Pirelli season begins in France, with the opening round being held at Circuit Paul Ricard on 5-6 April 2024.
