Stefan Rosina and Bronek Formanek set the pace for Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra in Saturday’s GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli Pre-Qualifying session at Circuit Paul Ricard.
The Czech squad is making its GT2 Europe debut at the French circuit this weekend, and went one better than yesterday's P2 as Rosina and Formanek's 2:04.873s lap proved the benchmark ahead of the afternoon’s crucial Qualifying.
That time put the Pro-Am crew’s #11 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 GT2 0.786s clear of their nearest competitors, NM Racing Team, which in turn was fastest of the Am class contingent after a strong showing by Alberto De Martin and Nil Montserrat in the #115 Mercedes-AMG GT2.
Montserrat’s late flyer bumped the DINAMIC Motorsport duo of Roberto Pampanini and Mauro Calamia down to third overall, the #7 Maserati GT2 also finishing second best of the Pro-Am entries.
RTR Projects continued to edge their way up the pecking order as its #89 KTM X-BOW GT2 finished fourth, in the hands of Laura Kraihamer and Mato Homola. Fifth went to the #1 LP Racing Maserati of Philippe Prette, the Italian also second-placed of the Am competitors.
The top six was rounded out by the all-Danish Razoon - more than racing (#80 KTM) pairing of Thomas Andersen and Simon Birch, pipping a brace of Mercedes-AMG crews. Ondrej Rokos and Petr Lisa followed for RTR Projects, ahead of the #53 Akkodis ASP duo of Pascal Gibon and Christophe Bourret.
Focus now shifts to the all-important Qualifying sessions which decide the grids for Sunday’s two GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli races. Follow the action live on GT World YouTube from 15:00 CEST.
