Jens Reno Moller confirmed his pace at the Misano World Circuit for round three of the Blancpain GT Sports Club this weekend in Free Practice 2, going quickest in sweltering conditions on board the #11 Reno Racing Honda NSX GT3 Evo.
Early in the session, FP1 pace-setter Christian Hook and ERC Sport’s Lee Mowle traded fastest lap times, with the Rinaldi Racing driver holding a comfortable margin over the #44 Mercedes AMG GT3 driver for much of the opening 15 minutes.
However, times continued to drop and Mowle moved ahead of the #33 Ferrari 488 GT3 before he himself was demoted to second by the fast charging Moller.
Soon, AF Corse’s Mario Cordoni started to improve on his lap times, moving into third on board the #51 Ferrari 488 GT3, ending the session just 0.032 seconds behind British GT convert Mowle.
The gap between Cordoni and Hook was even closer, with the Italian slotting ahead by just 0.002 seconds, although the German was unable to better his early pace when the track was somewhat cooler.
HP Racing International’s Coach McKansy, utilising the 2019-spec Lamborghini Huracan GT3, had been in the fight for top spot early on, but was another who couldn’t improve as the temperature rose, ending the session fifth fastest overall and third in the Titanium Cup.
Next came Kessel Racing’s Murad Sultanov on board the #23 Ferrari, ahead of lead Iron Cup racer and team-mate Rick Peter Lovat. The Canadian, driving the #12 Ferrari, made a huge leap forward in pace but will have to wait until qualifying to see how he fairs against Stephen Earle, who sat out the session.
Pavel Strukov, who has shown flashes of race-winning speed so far this season, was eighth quickest on board the StileF Squadra Corse #777 Ferrari, ahead of the improving Dilantha Malagamuwa. The Sri Lankan is driving an older-spec Lamborghini Huracan GT3 for HB Racing and is looking to move up in the Titanium Cup standings this weekend.
AF Corse’s Louis-Philippe Soenen was just a few tenths further back in 10th on board the #50 Ferrari, with new team-mate Howard Blank continuing to make pace gains in 11th.
Next will be qualifying from the Misano World Circuit, which will be streamed live in both French and English on our website, Facebook page and GTWorld YouTube channel.
