Elkhart Lake, WI - Mark Issa scored both GT Sports Club America poles during Saturday morning's 30-minute qualifying session at Road America. The session was split into two 15 minute segments, the first to set the grid for Saturday afternoon's Round 5 race, and the second for Sunday's Round 6 race.
Weather conditions at the 4.048-mile, 14-turn circuit Saturday morning were much different than what was experienced Friday. The track was dry and the session was held under sunny, partly cloudy skies.
In the first segment, Issa in the #31 TR3 Racing Ferrari 488 GT3 posted a 2:11.990 good for the pole, while Ryan Gates, in his #311 Porsche 911 GT2 RS CS posted a 2:12.806, good for second on the grid. Stu Frederick, in the #57 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT2 RS CS will start third overall on Saturday and first in the Iron category with (2:13.826).
In the second segment, Issa posted an early time of 2:13.232 and then rocketed to a 2:11.601 to secure Sunday's pole. Gates will start second on Sunday (2:12.831). Jason Bell, in the #2 GMG Racing 911 GT2 RS CS will start third (2:13.137), while Frederick will start fourth overall (2:13.348).
