Perfetti’s Porsche paces Circuit Paul Ricard practice

Perfetti, who is also making his series debut this weekend, recorded two times fast enough for top spot but ultimately led the way with the 2m08.693s lap he set after 20 minutes. A quicker subsequent first sector suggested there was plenty more in the new generation Porsche 991’s tank.

Nevertheless, the Mentos Racing driver’s benchmark was still 1.4s faster than double Brands Hatch race winner and Blancpain GT Series regular Michal Broniszewski could muster, while Patrick Van Glabeke was only a hundredth further back on what was the best outing thus far for Ferrari’s new 488 GT3.

An impressive lap from Coach McKansy put the older Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 fourth, albeit 0.766s behind Van Glabeke and more than two seconds shy of Perfetti’s fastest.

Pierre Hirshi’s BMW Z4 and the Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 driven by Daniel Vogt made it five manufacturers inside the top-six, while championship leader Mario Cordoni was one place further back in his Ferrari 458 GT3.

The first of the GTE-spec cars was eighth, Nicolas Vandierendonck’s Corvette C6 ZR1 heading Jean-Michel Baert’s Audi and newcomer Marc Sourd, who ended up 0.113s faster than Iron Cup rival and reigning class champion Martin Lanting.

Blancpain GT Sports Club qualifying begins at 09:00 tomorrow ahead of the Qualifying and Main Races, both of which can be watched live on www.blancpainsportsclub.com/gt/live.
