Ebi Motors will extend its Fanatec GT2 European Series campaign at the Red Bull Ring, Austria, with Imola Am class winner Gianluca Giorgi returning to the #7 Porsche GT2 RS for the five remaining rounds of the season.
The Italian team and driver delivered a stand-out debut in the season opener in Italy earlier this month with Giorgi taking the Am class by storm. An impressive second place in the first race of the season paved the way for class victory in race two, placing Giorgi top of the category standings.
Now sitting seven points clear of Henry Hassid in the #67 LP Racing Audi after the first double-header of the year, Giorgi has confirmed his decision to continue his Am championship bid and race on for the remainder of the 2022 Fanatec GT2 European Series season.
Giorgi commented: “I’m very happy and satisfied with our performance in my first race of the 2022 Fanatec GT2 European Series and for this reason I have decided to do all the races of this year’s championship. For me, my results at Imola were a nice surprise and this stimulated me to continue my racing adventure in the series. I hope I can do just as well at the Red Bull Ring and next races.”
The 52 year-old will continue his maiden Fanatec GT2 European Series campaign in round two at the Red Bull Ring, Austria, 20-21 May 2022.
