Brabham Automotive Factory Racing topped the timing screens for the first time so far during SRO Speed Week, with Anders Fjordbach setting the fastest time in the second free practice session at Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium.
Last year’s Pro-Am champion with High Class Racing, Fjordbach built on team-mate Kevin Weeda’s early session efforts to climb the order and claim the top spot for the Brabham BT63 GT2 Concept car in the final 15-minutes.
Prior to that, Nicolas Saelens and Stienes Longin had featured at the front for much of the 60-minute session before settling for second, while the sister car of Bert Longin and Peter Guelinckx finished third in Pro-Am. Liveried in the colours of the Belgian flag, both the #11 and #81 PK Carsport Audis are hunting for home ground glory this weekend.
Elia Erhart and Michael Doppelmayr continued their FP1 form to once again top the Am class order, fourth overall, whilst knocking a further 0.9s off this morning’s best lap time for good measure.
With the LP Racing Audi once again splitting the Pro-Am runners, Aurelijus Rusteika and Michael Vergers clocked in fifth fastest. Behind them things got incredibly close in the mid-field, with Leonardo Gorini claiming second in Pro-Am, with a lap time just 0.029s quicker than Henry Hassid’s best effort in the LP Racing Porsche.
The #16 True Racing KTM X-BOW of Sahedi Sarmini and Kris Rosenberger, and the Ebimotors Porsche of Gianluca Giorgi and Alessandra Baccani completed the top 10, fourth and fifth in class respectively.
Next up, it’s Fanatec GT2 European Series qualifying from Spa-Francorchamps from 18:10 this evening.
