Reining Fanatec GT2 European Pro-Am champions, PK Carsport set the benchmark in a close final free practice session ahead of the first rounds of the season at Monza this afternoon.
Peter Guelinckx established an early advantage in the 60-minute session in the #1 Audi. His time was then cemented by Stienes Longin, with a 1:48.456, before a trip into the gravel at Lesmos 1 brought out a second consecutive red flag to end the session.
Although only a few minutes remained, the early end denied the LP Racing Audi of Pierre Kaffer and Micahel Doppelmayr the chance to push for the top spot, the #18 clocking in with a time just 0.055 adrift.
The sister car of Stephane Ratel and Mattia di Giusto came in a close third, 0.146 further back.
Iron Lynx contiunue a positive series debut so far with Luciano and Donovan Privitelio leading the Am class contingent with a best time of 1:49.235 splitting the Pro-Am field for fourth overall.
Reinhard Kofler and Hubert Trunkenpolz recorded their best time of the weekend so far to bring the True Racing by Reiter Engineering #17 KTM into the top five, while reigning Am champion Henry Hassid and new teammate Anthony Beltoise finished sixth. The #15 KTM of Stefan Rosina and Nicolas Saelens completed the Pro-Am order in seventh.
Mathey Racing’s Christoph Breuer brought the #10 Porsche home second in Am, ahead of the pair of Ebimotors Porsches which rounded out the top ten.
The Fanatec GT2 European Series field now prepares for their first qualifying session of the season at 15:30.
