Akkodis ASP Team joins the grid with new Mercedes-AMG GT2

World-renowned GT outfit, Akkodis ASP Team joins the Fanatec GT2 European Series for round two at the Red Bull Ring, 26-28 May, fielding the new Mercedes-AMG GT2.

The #61 Pro-Am entry will be driven by the father and son pairing of Mauro and Benjamin Ricci for the remaining five rounds of the season.

The duo join the #GT2Family after a successful season competing in the Am category of the GT4 European Series. Mauro took the runner-up title - and the crown for the Akkodis ASP Team. Having missed the last three races, Benjamin finished in the top five of the fiercely competitive SRO series.

Founded in 1999, Akkodis ASP Team boast a world-class pedigree in GT racing spanning more than two decades. Reigning Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe champions, and winners of the 2022 edition of the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa, the outfit expands its operations to join the third season of the Fanatec GT2 European Series.

The team and drivers will be aiming to add another series title to their roll of honour, armed with the new Mercedes-AMG GT2. Producing 707 hp, it is the most powerful model ever designed by Mercedes-AMG in its customer-racing program.

Since the beginning of its development, the Mercedes-AMG GT2 has clocked up more than 20,000 km in testing on various European circuits (Valencia, Monza, Dijon, Paul Ricard, Portimão). Almost all official Mercedes-AMG drivers have been involved in the development of the car.

Now, Mauro and Benjamin are ready to race the #61 Akkodis ASP Team Mercedes for the first time in Austria next weekend, 26-28 May.
