Qualifying Race Misano : Nothing decided yet

Poleman Mario Cordoni (#52 AF Corse Ferrari) had the best start, leading the field into the first corner with championship leader Max Bianchi (#23 Kessel Racing Ferrari) hot on his heels. The duo ran nose to tail for most of the race, with Bianchi only losing ground in the final stages of the race. Cordoni took his third consecutive win, keeping his title chances alive.

Behind, Cedric Mezard (#8 Scuderia Villorba Corse Ferrari) lost a position at the start to Patrick Van Glabeke (#42 AF Corse Ferrari) and it took the Frenchman a couple of laps to get passed the Belgian again. Mezard looked set for a podium finish, up until he spun his car in lap 10, dropping to eighth and out of the points. But Mezard was not about to give in, and after a great comeback – passing up to three cars in a single lap – he eventually finished in fourth. With Van Glabeke taking the final podium position, this means that Bianchi goes into tomorrow’s final race of the season with an five point lead over Mezard and a 18-point advantage over Cordoni. For Bianchi or Mezard a win would get them the title, while Cordoni needs his competitors to finish down the order if he takes the win.

In the Iron Cup, Louis-Philippe Soenen (#53 AF Corse Ferrari) had to finish in front of Martin Lanting (#48 AF Corse Ferrari) to keep a shot at the title. Lanting led during the first few laps, but after a small mistake Soenen moved up to first, and ran as high as fourth overall at a certain moment. In the end, Soenen finished in fifth, but still took full points in the Iron Cup. That means that he now goes into the final race with a 24-point deficit, keeping a tiny chance at the title. Lanting only has to finish the race to take the Iron Cup crown however.
