LP Racing and Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra shared pole position honours after two intense GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli qualifying sessions at Zandvoort.
The first was a straight contest between Philippe Prette (#1 LP Racing Maserati) and Bronek Formanek (#11 Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra Lamborghini). The latter looked to have gained the upper hand in the second half of proceedings, but Prette responded with a decisive lap of 1:37.335s to ensure his Maserati would start Race 1 from the front of the grid.
The Italian was therefore also best of the Am class runnes, 0.8s clear of second-placed Formanek who was quickest of the Pro-Am contingent. Third place went the way of RTR Projects, but not without drama for Laura Kraihamer as she met the barriers after a big spin in the #89 KTM X-Bow GT2. That brought out the red flags, but the Austrian emerged thankfully unharmed from the incident.
A close fight for fourth was won by NM Racing Team and Spainish driver Alberto De Martin, the #115 machine pipping the similar Mercedes-AMG GT2 of Akkodis ASP’s Pascal Gibon. Sixth was to be taken by the #7 Maserati GT2 of Roberto Pampanini for DINAMIC Motorsport - the car that topped Friday’s running.

Rosina took control of the #11 Lamborghini for the second part of Qualifying and instantly made an impact, putting down a marker of 1:36.042s to smash the lap record at Zandvoort.
His time was still closely contested however, as Nil Montserrat was right on his tail in the NM Racing Team Mercedes-AMG. Taking over from fellow Spaniard De Martin, Montserrat finished a slender two tenths adrift to join their Pro-Am rivals on the front row for Race Two.
Mauro Calamia was third in the DINAMIC Motorsport Maserati which he shares ith Pampanini, while fourth place overall for the #294 RTR Projects Mercedes-AMG was enough to give Ondrej Rokos and Petr Lisa their first Am class pole position. Oliver Freymuth was fifth in the #24 AKF Motorsport Lamborghini, with Christophe Bourret rounding out the top six for Akkodis ASP.
Prette ended Q2 wih no lap time to his name, meeting the barriers after a spin on cold tyres leaving the pit lane.
The GT2 Europe competitors now look towards the first 60-minute race of the weekend, which kicks off from 13:20 CEST and will be live via GT World on YouTube.
