DINAMIC performance puts Calamia and Pampanini fastest in Pre-Qualifying at Zandvoort

DINAMIC Motorsport surged to the front in Pre-Qualifying for the second GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli round at Zandvoort, as only one tenth of a second covered the top three.

The #7 Maserati GT2 crew of Roberto Pampanini and Mauro Calamia were fastest for much of Friday morning’s Free Practice session in the Netherlands, but this time were not to be denied as Calamia lowered the series lap record with an effort of 1:37.584s to put the Italian squad on top.

Morning pace-setters Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra closed the gap throughout the hour of running, Bronek Formanek and Stefan Rosina finishing a mere 0.065s behind their rivals in the #11 Lamorghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo 2.

Behind them, Philippe Prette improved with an impressive time good enough for third overall, and fastest of the Am class competitors once again. The #1 LP Racing Maserati finished right on the tails of the leading two cars, just 0.039s further behind in a tight contest at the sharp end.

Only three tenths adrift was the ever-present #89 KTM X-Bow GT2 of RTR Projects. Both Mato Homola and Laura Kraihamer confirmed their consistent frontrunning pace, while NM Racing Team rounded out the top five with Alberto De Martin and Nil Montserrat in the #115 Mercedes-AMG GT2.

A pair of similar Mercedes-AMG machines followed the Spainish team closely. Akkodis ASP’s Pascal Gibon and Christophe Bourret were sixth quickest in the #53 car, this time getting the better of RTR Projects’ #294 duo of Ondrej Rokos and Petr Lisa. Am class points leader Oliver Freymuth (#24 Lamborghini) rounded out the top eight again for AKF Motorsport.

Attention shifts to Saturday’s GT2 Europe action which includes Qualifying and the first 60-minute race at 9:20 and 13:20 CEST respectively. All sessions will be streamed live on GT World YouTube.
