• Formanek and Rosina look to stretch Pro-Am advantage
• Defending champion Prette tops Am standings with three events to run
• New entries from ART-Line and DL Racing join the grid for Italian event
• ENTRY LIST: MISANO
The GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli heads to Misano this weekend (18–20 July) to begin the second half of its 2025 campaign.
The fourth of six doubleheader meetings will take place at the 4.2km circuit on the Adriatic coast, which has been a regular stop for GT2 Europe since its inception in 2021. The Italian round follows last month's trip to Spa-Francorchamps, which ran in support of the 77th CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa.
It comes at an exciting time for the series following the announcement that GT2 Europe will add a Silver class next season, while the best Silver-graded driver will earn a GT World Challenge powered by AWS Endurance Cup seat with a Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Team. The grid is also poised to expand, with Ginetta officially launching its GT2 contender ahead of a 2026 debut.
For now, however, the focus remains on 2025. GT2 Europe forms part of a packed weekend at Misano, which is headlined by GT World Challenge powered by AWS and also includes the GT4 European Series powered by RAFA Racing Club, Porsche Carrera Cup France and the Clio Cup Series.

PRO-AM: Formanek and Rosina look to put one hand on the title
Bronek Formanek and Stefan Rosina (#11 Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra Lamborghini) continued their march towards the Pro-Am title with a perfect weekend at Spa, securing two wins from pole and posting the fastest lap in both races. Now in possession of a 47-point advantage, they are well on their way to being crowned champions; indeed, a strong weekend at Lamborghini's home circuit would put them in position to clinch the crown next time out at Valencia.
DINAMIC Motorsport is firmly established in second spot after Roberto Pampanini and Mauro Calamia secured a brace of podiums at Spa-Francorchamps. The Swiss drivers are the only Pro-Am crew to beat the dominant Mičánek squad this term and are the most likely candidates to do so again at Misano.
RTR Projects enjoyed its best weekend of the season last time out, netting third spot in the opening contest before securing a runner-up finish in the second. Davit Kajaia was making his series debut at the Spa meeting and forged an instant connection with RTR regular Mato Homola. They will chase more success this weekend aboard the #89 KTM.
NM Racing Team scored solid points in the Ardennes, though the Spanish squad was not as close to challenging for victory as it had been at Circuit Paul Ricard and Zandvoort. Spanish drivers Alberto de Martin and Nil Montserrat will once again share the #115 Mercedes-AMG.
There will be two new Pro-Am entrants at Misano. Each will field Lamborghini machinery, ensuring that the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 is the most popular car on the grid for the manufacturer’s home event. What’s more, both teams and all four drivers are set for their GT2 Europe debuts.
An established name in single-seater and GT racing, ART-Line will enter the #12 car for Shota Abkhazava and Egor Orudzhev, both of whom have experience in the fiercely competitive Lamborghini Super Trofeo. DL Racing will tackle its home event with two Italian drivers as Diego Locanto and Luca Segù take the controls of the #72 machine. Indeed, this is a 100 percent Italian entry, from the car and its drivers to the Pirelli tyres.

AM: Prette in control but not beyond reach
While the Pro-Am title looks increasingly secure, the Am fight remains alive. Philippe Prette has been the standout driver, winning four races from six aboard the #1 LP Racing Maserati, but a few setbacks have kept his rivals in the hunt. Prette's advantage is 26 points, a useful cushion but certainly not enough to feel comfortable.
His main challenge comes from Akkodis ASP. Pascal Gibon and Christophe Bourret have scored six straight podiums aboard the #53 Mercedes-AMG, including four runner-up finishes, to keep themselves within touching distance of top spot. A win at Misano would boost their chances and put pressure on Prette.
RTR Projects bagged its first win of the season at Spa. Petr Lisa and Viktor Mraz triumphed aboard the #789 KTM in Race 2 and will chase more silverware at Misano. LP Racing completes the grid with its #88 Audi, which switches to the Am class with Stéphane Ratel making his first competitive outing of the season.
Four crews will contend for Iron Cup honours at Misano. Open to driver line-ups with a combined age of 90 and over, the eligible entries are Pampanini/Calamia (#7 DINAMIC Motorsport Maserati); Gibon/Bourret (#53 Akkodis ASP Mercedes-AMG); De Martin/Montserrat (#115 NM Racing Team Mercedes-AMG); and Lisa/Mraz (#789 RTR Projects KTM). As ever, qualifying and both 60-minute races will be streamed live via the GT World YouTube channel.
