GT2 European Series Champions collect silverware in Venice

The GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli champions of 2025 were honoured at the annual SRO Motorsports Group Awards in Venice on Saturday (22 November), hosted at the historic Scuola Grande della Misericordia.

The stars of GT2 Europe took their place amongst the motorsport elite and champions from SRO’s series across the globe, all in attendance to collect their hard-earned silverware in the resplendent surroundings of Venetian architecture dating back to the 14th century.

Making the journey to Venice to celebrate the team’s outstanding first season in GT2 Europe, Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra and drivers Bronek Formanek and Stefan Rosina took centre stage to collect the Pro-Am teams’ and drivers’ champion trophies. Earned with a round to spare at Valencia, they clinched the crown with five race wins and three additional podium finishes – also sealing the first GT2 European Series title for a Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO GT2.

Title rivals, Nil Montserrat and Alberto de Martin, collected their second-place trophy for the NM Racing Team. The Mercedes-AMG GT2 duo enjoyed a stellar end to the season, with class wins at both Valencia and Barcelona proving enough to vault them up the order.

The biggest GT2 Europe celebration of the night had to be for Philippe Prette, who was on hand to collect the Am champions trophy for the second season in succession. The LP Racing Maserati ace sealed back-to-back titles at Valencia with a brace of outright victories, eventually scoring a remarkable 10 out of 12 race wins to also secure LP Racing the teams’ Am title.

Prette was joined by Petr Lisa, who scored no fewer than eight podiums and a class victory at Spa-Francorchamps on his way to the runner up spot with RTR Projects and the KTM X-Bow GT2.

The success of Saturday’s afternoon awards ceremony and glittering gala dinner concludes the 2025 GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli. The series will return next year with several innovations including the introduction of a new Silver class creating a three-class structure, revised five round calendar and, most significantly, the introduction of the SRO GT Academy.

Come the end of 2026, one Silver-graded driver competing with Maserati, Mercedes-AMG or Ginetta GT2 machinery will win a fully funded (excluding crash damage) GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup seat with a leading Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Team in 2027.

The GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli 2026 season begins at Monza on 30-31 May, once again supporting GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS.
