Ligier joins the grid with High Class Racing

The Ligier brand will make its GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli debut at the season finale in Portimão thanks to High Class Racing.

The Danish team has been a regular competitor in the Le Mans Cup with Ligier Automotive’s LMP3 machinery and will now make its first GT2 Europe start since 2022 with the French manufacturer’s new JS2 RS model. It marks the first GT2 Europe appearance for the JS2 RS, which is powered by a 3.5-litre Ford twin-turbo V6 engine capable of producing up to 650bhp.

The Ligier will compete in the Pro-Am class in the hands of Icelandic driver Audunn Gudmundsson and High Class Racing team head Anders Fjordbach. Gudmundsson was most recently a podium finisher in the International GT Open and has also raced LMP3 machinery in the Le Mans Cup across recent seasons with High Class.

Fjordbach is no stranger to the GT2 Europe grid having won the 2021 Pro-Am title in 2021 and last competed with a Brabham back in 2022. The Danish ace has since gone on to compete in the GT World Endurance Cup, at the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa and other prestige endurance events such as the Nürburgring 24 Hours, Bathurst 12Hrs and Suzuka 1000km with the Intercontinental GT Challenge.

The arrival of the Ligier brings the total amount of manufacturers to have competed in GT2 Europe this season to nine, following Mercedes-AMG, Ginetta, Maserati, KTM, Porsche, Ferrari, Audi and Lamborghini.
