The Austrian outfit brings two new drivers to the field, with Horst Felbermayr Jr and Reinhard Kofler taking charge of the #14 Pro-Am entry. Although newcomers to the series, both drivers bring a wealth of experience to True Racing’s 2022 campaign.
Felbermayr joins the fold off the back of a stellar season in the Reiter Engineering KTM X-BOW GTX, earning five wins and six podiums on his way to second overall in the 24H Series. A GT2 podium finisher in Le Mans Series LMGT2 and the FIA GT2 Cup 16 years ago, the 51-year-old is ready for the challenge of the new generation Fanatec GT2 European Series.
“I’m really looking forward to joining the Fanatec GT2 European Series at the Red Bull Ring, the home race for KTM,” says Felbermayr. It is also the home race for Felbermayr, who has contested numerous GT races at the circuit in Styria.
Fellow Austrian and team-mate, Kofler has been winning with the KTM brand for over seven season, including back-to-back Nürburgring 24 Hours Cup X Class honours in the KTM X-BOW GTX. A former karting and Formula BMW Junior champion, the 37 year-old’s winning expertise spans the DTM Trophy, 24H GT Series, KTM X-BOW Cup, ADAC GT4 Germany and GT4 European Series.
“There’s something really special about the Red Bull Ring, it’s one of the most beautiful locations you can race,” says Kofler. “Our first race in the Fanatec GT2 European Series is going to be a nice competition. The Red Bull Ring is a fast track, so I think the times will be quite close together. The home race for us and KTM is the biggest for sure, it’s an honour.”
Felbermayr and Kofler make it a three-way True Racing KTM attack on the Pro-Am title, with Kris Rosenberger and Laura Kraihamer in #15, and Filip Sladecka and Stefan Rosina in the #16 entry. Klaus Angerhofer and Hubert Trunkenpolz lead the team’s Am class assalt.
The second round of the Fanatec GT2 European Series plays out in support of the ADAC GT Masters weekend of action at the Red Bull Ring, 20-22 May.
