LP Racing returnees Michael Doppelmayr and Pierre Kaffer wasted no time by going fastest in Friday’s Fanatec GT2 European Series Powered by Pirelli free practice session at Misano.
The all-German Pro-Am duo were quick out of the blocks under sunny skies in the #18 Audi R8 LMS GT2, and their best lap time of 1:35.941s was enough to top the times after the first 60-minute session of the weekend in Italy.
Doppelmayr and Kaffer finished the session 0.262s clear of their nearest rival who was LP Racing team-mate Philippe Prette. His #2 Maserati GT2 was also the best of the Am class runners after a strong session.
Razoon - More Than Racing rounded out the top three in the #80 KTM X-BOW driven by Thomas Andersen and Simon Birch. They pipped the similar RTR Projects car of championship leader Jan Krabec, who shares the #89 car with Erik Janis this weekend.

Leonardo Gorini and Carlo Tamburini ensured there were three LP Racing cars in the top five in the sister Maserati, ahead of Reinhard Kofler and Martin Koch in the Team MZR X-BOW.
Mercedes-AMG cars were close behind. Eric De Doncker and Loris Hezemans were seventh for Motorsport 98 with Mauro Ricci and the returning Ludovic Badey next up for Akkodis ASP.
TFT Racing and Alexandre Leroy made it a one-two for Maserati in the Am class, Jean-Luc Beaubelique and Gilles Vannelet right on their tail as both rounded out the top 10.
Next up for the Fanatec GT2 competitors is pre-qualifying from 20:00 into the night. Watch it live at GT World on YouTube.
