GT2 Europe heads to the Ardennes to join action-packed CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa line-up

• Seasonal highlight marks mid-way point in 2025 campaign
• Pro-Am and Am leaders looking to pull clear of the chasing pack
ENTRY LIST: SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS

The GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli will join the support line-up for the 77th CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa later this week (25-29 June) with a pair of 60-minute races marking the halfway point in the 2025 campaign.

It promises to be an especially busy meeting, with the GT2 Europe field invited to participate in Wednesday's parade from the circuit to Spa city centre. The opening contest takes place at 14:55 on Friday while the second gets underway at 09:20 on Saturday morning, opening race day at Spa-Francorchamps.

PRO-AM: Pampanini and Calamia looking to put pressure on Formanek and Rosina

The trip to Spa represents a critical moment in the battle for the Pro-Am title. Bronek Formanek and Stefan Rosina lead the standings after a dazzling start to the season, which saw the Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra duo win the first three races aboard their #11 Lamborghini. With both drivers in top form, their 28-point advantage will not be easy to overcome.

Nevertheless, a potential title challenge began to emerge last time out at Zandvoort, where DINAMIC Motorsport secured a hard-fought Race 2 victory with its #7 Maserati. Roberto Pampanini and Mauro Calamia both excelled at the Dutch venue and will hope to reduce the deficit further by winning again at Spa-Francorchamps.

NM Racing Team has made a strong start to its first full GT2 Europe campaign. Spanish duo Nil Montserrat and Alberto De Martin have earned three podiums from the opening four races aboard the #115 Mercedes-AMG and could force their way into title contention with a big score at Spa.

Last month’s Zandvoort round was a mixed bag for the #89 RTR Projects KTM. Race 1 saw the pairing of Laura Kraihamer and Mato Homola produce a stellar comeback drive, which was rewarded with a first podium of the season, but the car completed only a handful of laps in the second outing. Homola will welcome a new teammate at Spa, with series newcomer Davit Kajaia joining the Czech team.

GT2 Europe stalwart LP Racing bolsters the Pro-Am field with an Audi for the returning Gianluca Giorgi and series newcomer Daniele Cazzaniga. This marks the first appearance of the season for the Audi R8 LMS GT2, which earned a record 21 Pro-Am wins between 2021 and 2024.

AM: Prette pulling clear after perfect weekend at Zandvoort

Am class champion Philippe Prette could hardly have hoped for a better start to his title defence. The #1 LP Racing Maserati driver swept the Zandvoort weekend – bagging his first-ever overall win in the opening contest – to establish a strong advantage at the head of the standings. A winner at Spa-Francorchamps last year, he will be gunning for a double triumph this weekend.

Prette's most consistent challenger has been the #53 Akkodis ASP Mercedes-AMG of Pascal Gibon and Christophe Bourret. The French drivers have finished each race on the podium and looked especially strong on their way to runner-up spot in the second Zandvoort contest.

The only Am winner beside Prette is Oliver Freymuth, who bagged Race 2 honours at Circuit Paul Ricard aboard his AKF Motorsport Lamborghini. He will look to return to the top step this weekend after missing out on the podium at Zandvoort. Finally, RTR Projects returns to the Am class with its KTM. The Czech squad contested the opening round at Circuit Paul Ricard and completes the grid at Spa-Francorchamps with Viktor Mraz and Petr Lisa sharing its #789 entry.

As ever, Qualifying and both races will air live on the GT World YouTube channel. GT2 Europe joins a packed support line-up at Spa-Francorchamps, which also includes the GT4 European Series powered by RAFA Racing Club, Lamborghini Super Trofeo, and McLaren Trophy Europe. The 77th CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa gets underway at 16:30 CEST on Saturday 28 June.

The event is the third of six double-header meetings that will play out over the course of the 2025 season. After Spa, GT2 Europe will visit Misano (18–20 July) in Italy before completing the year with two trips to Spain, tackling Valencia (19–21 September) and finally Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya (10–12 October).
