Local squad NM Racing lowered the benchmark time on Friday as the team topped Pre-Qualifying ahead of the penultimate GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli weekend in Valencia.
The #115 Mercedes-AMG GT2 of the all-Spanish Pro-Am team finished the earlier Free Practice session a narrow second place in the times, but both Alberto De Martin and Nil Montserrat made further strides in the afternoon’s second 60-minute outing to conclude the day on top with a best effort of 1:34.533s.
The Spaniards ended the session just 0.117s clear of the #1 LP Racing Maserati GT2 of Philippe Prette, who topped the Am class honours once again.
Despite a brief excursion, DINAMIC Motorsport was again a consistent threat in the Pro-Am #7 Maserati. Roberto Pampanini and Mauro Calamia eventually ended the day third quickest, only two tenths off the ultimate best.
Fourth place went to the sister LP Racing entry, with Luca Pirri aboard the team’s Audi R8 LMS GT2, while fifth fastest was the Pro-Am points-leading #11 Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra crew of Bronek Formanek and Stefan Rosina (Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo 2).
RTR Projects made up the next two positions. Its Pro-Am KTM X-BOW pairing of Mato Homola and Viktor Mraz was sixth, ahead of the Mercedes-AMG duo of Petr Lisa and Ondrej Rokos. The top eight was rounded out by Olive Freymuth in the AKF Motorsport Lamborghini.
Attention now shifts to Saturday, starting with Qualifying from 10:15 CEST and then the opening 60-minute race at 16:50. Both sessions will be broadcast live via GT World on YouTube.
