New and returning contenders bolster final GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli field of 2025

• Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya stages closing GT2 Europe doubleheader
• Ginetta set to debut new G56 GT2, outgoing champions Team MZR among returnees
• One-hour races scheduled for 13:20 on Saturday and 09:10 on Sunday
ENTRY LIST: BARCELONA

The 2025 GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli will conclude next weekend at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya (10-12 October) with a pair of 60-minute races bringing the curtain down on the season.

A number of new and returning names are confirmed for the trip to Spain, making the Barcelona entry list perhaps the most intriguing of the year. The most significant news is the addition of Ginetta, which will get a head start on its 2026 assault by debuting the G56 GT2 as an invitational entry.

It comes three weeks after the penultimate event at Circuit Ricardo Tormo Valencia, where both the Pro-Am and Am titles were settled. As ever GT2 Europe will compete alongside GT World Challenge powered by AWS, while the GT4 European Series powered by RAFA Racing Club and Lamborghini Super Trofeo will also be present for a packed weekend of GT racing.

PRO-AM: Returning champions and brand-new machinery bolster the grid

Having wrapped up the Pro-Am title last time out at Valencia, Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra has elected not to enter the finale. With the champions already decided, the key objective for teams this weekend will be to end the year on a high and set the tone for 2026.

DINAMIC Motorsport currently occupies second in the standings after taking a win in the opening Valencia contest, though a DNF in Race 2 ended the Italian squad's title aspirations. Nevertheless, Roberto Pampanini and Mauro Calamia have an excellent chance to seal runner-up aboard the #7 Maserati.

Fresh from a breakthrough Race 2 win at Valencia, NM Racing will look to add more silverware on home soil with Alberto De Martin and Nil Montserrat sharing its #115 Mercedes-AMG. They are 15 points shy of the DINAMIC squad ahead of the finale.

RTR Projects duo Viktor Mraz and Mato Homola took a Pro-Am runner-up finish in Race 1 at Valencia, which marked their first outing as teammates aboard the #89 KTM. Homola has scored four podiums with three different teammates this term – could the elusive win finally come in Spain?

LP Racing will field a fresh line-up in its #88 Audi, with series newcomer Otto Blank joined by the returning Pierre Kaffer. Blank has primarily competed in Ferrari Challenge, while Kaffer needs little introduction given the strength of his CV, which includes outright wins at the Nürburgring 24 Hours and the 12 Hours of Sebring.

Another noteworthy returnee is Team MZR, which will be back on the grid for the first time since wrapping up the Pro-Am title at Barcelona 12 months ago. Outgoing champion Reinhard Kofler will share the #119 KTM with Marius Aigner, who makes his GT2 Europe debut as part of an entirely Austrian effort.

Last but by no means least, the new Ginetta G56 GT2 will make its global racing debut at Barcelona, competing as an invitational entry under the guidance of accomplished French squad CMR. Ginetta chairman Lawrence Tomlinson will share the car with his son Freddie, officially introducing the new machine ahead of its intended full-scale assault in the 2026.

AM: Back-to-back champion Prette aiming for another Spanish sweep

The 2025 season has been a masterclass from Philippe Prette. The LP Racing ace sealed his second successive Am title at Valencia with a brace of outright victories, confirming the dominance of the #1 Maserati across the campaign. With eight wins to his name and two races left to run, Prette now has a chance to hit double digits.

The battle for runner-up spot is led by Petr Lisa, who has 140 points on the board ahead of the finale. He will share the #294 Mercedes-AMG with Ondrej Rokos, with whom he scored a brace of P3 finishes at Valencia.

Oliver Freymuth begins the final weekend 19 points adrift of Lisa. The AKF Motorsport Lamborghini driver came home fourth in both Valencia races and will aim to return to the top step of the podium for the first time since the season opener at Circuit Paul Ricard.

The final field of 2025 is completed by an additional LP Racing Maserati, which will combine SRO Motorsports Group Founder and CEO Stéphane Ratel with former grand prix racer Jean-Denis Delétraz. The latter will become the fifth driver with Formula 1 experience to compete in GT2 Europe, joining Michael Bleekemolen, David Brabham, Bernd Schneider and Hans-Joachim Stuck.
