DINAMIC Motorsport shows scorching Spanish speed to head Free Practice in Barcelona

DINAMIC Motorsport signalled its intentions with scorching pace to lead Friday morning’s Free Practice session at Barcelona, kicking off proceedings for the final GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli round of 2025.

It was a strong start in Spain for the Italian outfit, which clinched its maiden series victory at the same circuit last year. Its #7 Maserati crew of Mauro Calamia and Roberto Pampanini surged to the top in the dying minutes when the former clocked a best time of 1:45.982s, laying down a marker as they enter the season finale hoping to clinch second place in the Pro-Am standings.

It would prove a mightily close session at the front. Last year’s Pro-Am class champions, Team MZR marked its series return with an exciting early showing, as the #119 KTM X-BOW duo of Marius Aigner and Reinhard Kofler finished just two tenths adrift having lead the way until the final five minutes.

Another KTM crew followed closely in third, that being the #89 RTR Projects entry of Mato Homola - this weekend sharing with Germany's Lennart Marioneck. They finished only a further 0.160s back, ahead of home team NM Racing with the all-Spanish line-up of Alberto De Martin and Nil Montserrat in their Mercedes-AMG GT2.

The hour-long session marked the much eagerly-anticipated debut of the Ginetta G56 GT2, which finished fifth overall and within one second of its more experienced competitors. The father-son combination of Lawrence and Freddie Tomlinson contest the Pro-Am class this weekend.

Best of the Am class runners was Philippe Prette in sixth overall. The now-double Am champion maintained consistent pace in the #1 LP Racing Maserati to keep his nearest rival at bay, AKF Motorsport’s Oliver Freymuth (Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo 2).

LP Racing's two remaining entries followed, led by the sister #8 Maserati of Stéphane Ratel and ex-F1 racer Jean-Denis Deletraz in eighth overall - third of the Am runners. Ninth went to the Italian team's Audi R8 LMS GT2, sporting a new Pro-Am line-up of series returnee Pierre Kaffer and fellow German compatriot, Otto Blank. RTR Projects rounded out the top 10 with Petr Lisa and Ondrej Rokos (Mercedes-AMG).

The GT2 Europe competitiors will return to action at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya at 12:30 CEST for another 60-minutes of action, this time for Pre-Qualifying.
