2026 ENTRY: CMR confirms two-car Ginetta assault

Team CMR will make history this season by fielding the first official Ginetta entries in the GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli. The French outfit will compete in the Pro-Am and Silver classes, the latter marking the first GT2 entry in the expanded SRO GT Academy.

Confirmation of the two-car programme follows the team’s first series outing in Barcelona last October. There, CMR was tasked with showcasing the new Ginetta GT2, helping Lawrence and Freddie Tomlinson to secure an historic podium on the car’s global racing debut.

Tomlinson, Ginetta’s CEO, will return to GT2 Europe to contest a full-season campaign and bid for the Pro-Am title alongside Mike Simpson. The duo’s extensive knowledge of Ginetta, years of GT racing experience and a shared focus on performance make them a cornerstone of the programme, and powerful statement of confidence in GT2 and the SRO platform.

The second CMR Ginetta GT2 will be shared by newcomers Ethan Gialdini and Mikkel Njor, who enter the new Silver class. In doing so, they will become the first GT2 drivers to officially join the SRO GT Academy, which will reward one Silver graded driver with a fully funded seat with a Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Team for the 2027 GT World Europe Endurance Cup.

Gialdini steps up to GT2 Europe having climbed the SRO ladder with CMR and Ginetta, competing in the 2025 Championnat de France FFSA GT and SRO GT Academy.  Former Danish rally champion and Danish Motorsport Association’s Motorsport Talent of the Year in 2022, Njor graduates to the series off the back of strong performances in both the Ginetta GT5 and Ginetta Nordic championships.

CMR’s expanded GT2 entry reflects the strength of the relationship between SRO and Ginetta, a partnership that continues to grow globally.  GT2 has become a key platform for showcasing Ginetta’s engineering, performance and racing DNA on the world stage, and CMR’s two-car commitment reinforces that shared vision.

“Running two cars in GT2 Europe in 2026 is exactly where we want CMR to be,” said Charly Bourachot, team owner of CMR. “It reflects the confidence we have in the championship, in our partnership with Ginetta, and in the direction we’re taking the team. We’re here because we believe GT2 has a strong and exciting future”

CMR will start their full-season GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli campaign at the opening rounds of the season at Monza on 30-31 May.
