Maserati is preparing for a multi-car programme in this year’s GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli, with three teams initially set to run four cars between them.
The Modena-based Italian brand this year celebrates 100 years since the first car bearing the famed Trident logo appeared in competition – a Tipo 26 which won its class at the 1926 Targa Florio with Alfieri Maserati at the wheel.
It is therefore fitting that Maserati maintains its powerful presence in the GT2 Europe field, with an initial four of its mighty 3-litre twin-turbocharged V6 GT2 challengers expected to be on the grid for the opening round at Monza in May.
LP Racing will again be at the forefront of the entry, with two cars. Two-time Am class champion Philippe Prette is confirmed for the first car, with Niccolò Pirri graduating from Formula 4 to share the second Maserati GT2 with Thomas Yu Lee. At just 17-years-old, Pirri is set to be the youngest driver on the GT2 European Series grid.
Dinamic Motorsport has already been busy with its Maserati GT2, competing in the 12 Hours of Mugello. Drivers Roberto Pampanini and Maruo Calamia are expected to return to reignite their challenge for the Pro-Am class honours having finished third last season with two race wins and six podium finishes to their names.

The fourth car comes from the new i4Race team from Belgium. Highly experienced in rallying, i4Race will make its GT2 Europe debut this year with familiar paddock figure Antoine Potty leading its campaign after impressing in both GT4 and GT3 in recent seasons. Potty’s team-mate will be announced soon.
As Maserati is a registered manufacturer for the new SRO GT Academy, both Pirri and Potty will be eligible to fight for honours as Silver-graded drivers aged under 30. The GT Academy will reward its winner with a funded (excluding crash damage) seat with a Mercedes-AMG Customer Team in the 2027 GT World Endurance Cup.
With four cars confirmed, and the possibility of further entries to come, the ‘House of the Trident’ is preparing for a big year ahead.
Vincent Biard, Head of Maserati Corse, said: “Once again this year, we will have the opportunity to demonstrate the competitiveness of our Maserati GT2 in the GT2 European Series Powered by Pirelli. Maserati's history is made up of races and successes, taken by combining elegance and a sporting spirit. Not only an activity for us, our origins lie in racing. With this in mind, we have embarked on the GT2 journey and more generally on new challenges in motorsport, where we can now extend to endurance races thanks to the dedicated kit. The goal for the 2026 European Series is to confirm the performance demonstrated by our cars while they work to leave their mark. If we could win the title in our centenary year, it would be fantastic.”
The 2026 GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli will run over five rounds, starting at Monza in Italy over the weekend of May 29-31.
