Bovy and van den Hengel ready to make GT2 European Series history with Porsche

Sarah Bovy and Laura van den Hengel will become the first all-female team to compete in the GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli this year after confirming their slot on the grid in an Iron Dames Porsche.

The pair will share a Porsche 992 GT3 Cup car entered in the Pro-Am class. The addition of the Porsche brings the total number of manufacturers so far confirmed for this year’s grid to six.

Belgian driver Bovy has built a long and successful GT racing career, having been a key part of the Iron Dames initiative which raced in both the FIA World Endurance Championship and GT World Challenge Europe across recent seasons. Bovy became the first female driver in WEC history to claim a pole position in 2022, and she was also part of a historic class victory at the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa that same year.

Bovy is also set to return to the world’s biggest GT3 race at Spa this year as part of an all-Belgian line-up in a Comtoyou Aston Martin. She will use her GT2 campaign to both go for European glory, and also warm-up for the 24 Hours of Spa.

Dutch driver van den Hengel has excelled in the GT Cup Europe across recent years and last year won the Pro-Am class title with eight wins from 12 races in a She Drives. Performance Driven by Her Porsche. Having begun her racing career in karting back in 2010, van den Hengel has also gained experience from series such as the Italian GT Cup Sprint Championship and 24H Series. She was supported by the Iron Dames programme throughout 2025.

Sarah Bovy says:I joined the Iron Dames in 2021 and it changed my life. Together we carry some incredibly important values, we bring a message to the world: when we are women driven by dreams, you can’t stop us. Racing with Laura in GT2 European Series is a great opportunity to bring some new milestones and you can count on us to fight with the strong spirit of the Iron Dames.

Laura van den Hengel says: “I’m really excited to be part of this programme. Racing alongside Sarah, with all her experience, is a huge opportunity for me to learn and grow throughout the season. After winning the championship last year, this feels like the start of an exciting new chapter in my career.”

About the Iron Dames

Founded in 2018 by Deborah Mayer, Iron Dames is a long-term global movement built on elite performance and driven by purpose.

Born in motorsport and expanded into equestrian sport, the project has become a living demonstration that talent has no gender. Competing in some of the world’s most demanding arenas, Iron Dames has achieved historic milestones in both elite racing and show jumping, and continues to break new ground at the highest levels of the sport.

Through educational and cultural initiatives such as Meet the Iron Dames and the Every Dream Matters campaign, Iron Dames serves as a catalyst for positive change, creating opportunities and opening doors for women in environments where they have not traditionally been expected to belong or given the chance to thrive.

Its media authority and influence extend far beyond competition, uniting a global community around shared values, a bold attitude, and the belief that dreams should never be limited by gender.
