Härtling does the double as Schnitzelalm leads second practice

+ Result: Free Practice 2, Monza

Jay Mo Härtling kept SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm on top in second Monza practice, with the German team leaving it late to lock out a one-two in the times.

The session began under the baking sun and was interrupted by two red flags, which made finding a rhythm difficult. Härtling set the first benchmark in the #111 Mercedes-AMG before handing across to team-mate David Thilenius. Antoine Potty took a turn out front in the i4Race Maserati just before running was interrupted for the first time with a car stopped out on track bringing out the first red flags.

The second stoppage occurred when Philippe Prette had to stop out on track, and it was when the session resumed with just 12 minutes left that the biggest changes happened. Härtling climbed back aboard his AMG and 1:45.262s lap to pull clear. Only Moritz Wiskirchen and Wilhelm Kühne in the sister Schnitzelalm car could get close, with Wiskirchen improving to second late on, but still 0.7s off Härtling’s best.

It proved a strong session for Mercedes-AMG with Branden Oxley and Adrian Ferrer finishing third overall and fastest in Silver in their NM Racing Team car as Potty was shuffled back to fourth.

Lawrence Tomlinson and Mike Simpson were fifth fastest in the lead CMR Ginetta, ahead of Nil Montserrat and Alberto de Martin’s NM AMG.

Despite his delay, Prette kept up his stranglehold on the Masters class, just beating the RTR Projects Mercedes-AMG of Ondrej Rokos and Petr Lisa and the LP Racing Audi of Stéphane Ratel and Luca Pirri.

Qualifying takes place at 10:40 on Saturday.
