Ginetta tops opening Spa Speedweek practice

Result: Free Practice, Spa

Ginetta led the way in the opening Free Practice session at Spa-Francorchamps, with the twin CMR G56 GT2s claiming a one-two in the times.

Ethan Gialdini and Mikkel Njor came out on top of a sun-bathed session, with Njor’s best time from his fifth lap putting the car 1.1 seconds clear of his pursuers. A few cars managed to reduce that deficit after a mid-session red flag to clear a car from the gravel. Antoine Potty sat second for much of the second half in his i4Race Maserati before a final flying effort from factory driver Mike Simpson put CMR’s #62 car second, still 0.7s down on the sister car

Simpson and Lawrence Tomlinson still proved the fastest Pro-Am though, holding off Potty and their class rivals/points leaders David Thilenius and Jay Mo Härtling in the #111 SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm Mercedes-AMG.

Adrian Ferrer and Branden Oxley were fifth in their NM Racing Team Mercedes-AMG, ahead of Thomas Andersen/Simon Birch in the Razoon – more than Racing KTM.

Ondrej Rokos and Petr Lisa led the way in the Masters class. Their RTR Projects Mercedes-AMG finished just ahead of Viktor Mraz/Lennart Marioneck in the team’s KTM. Philippe Prette was third quickest for LP Racing Maserati.

Free Practice 2 is scheduled for 17:20 local time.
