+ Result: Free Practice 2, Misano
A super late lap from NM Racing Team boss Nil Montserrat ensured that Mercedes-AMG ended Friday at Misano with a Free Practice lockout.
After Jay Mo Härtling had topped the opening session, it was again a battle of the cars from the three-pointed star as the German and Montserrat went head-to-head. Antoine Potty brought Maserati into the mix by going quickest early on in the i4Race car before Härtling charged in front. A second improvement put the #111 0.5s clear before Härtling handed across to team-mate David Thilenius.
Härtling’s time stood for much of the session before Monsterrat buckled in and carved 0.3s off to put himself and Alberto de Martin out front. Härtling’s couldn’t respond, opening the door for Marius Aigner to also slip past by a tenth in the #119 MZR KTM.
Mike Simpson and Lawrence Tomlinson made it a Pro-Am top four in their CMR Ginetta ahead of Philippe Prette, who returned to the lead of the Masters category in his LP Racing Maserati. Adrián Ferrer and series newcomer Bas Visser doubled NM’s joy by topping the Silver times in the #116 Mercedes-AMG.
Qualifying is set for 09:40 on Saturday.
