Ginetta strikes back ahead of Zandvoort Qualifying

Result: Free Practice 2, Zandvoort

Ethan Gialdini and Mikkel Njor each produced a lap good enough to put the #3 CMR Ginetta on top of the times in second practice at Zandvoort in what proved a super-tight session.

After Maserati led the way in opening practice, it looked like Mercedes-AMG would be the second manufacturer to set the pace when Moritz Wiskirchen went fastest aboard the #110 SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm car, with Jay Mo Härtling then putting the sister #111 AMG second.

However, Mauro Calamia then displaced them, going fastest of all in the golden Dinamic Maserati. However, despite the fact Calamia initially pulled 0.5s on the entire field, Njor fought back, putting the #3 Ginetta ahead by just 0.008s before handing to Gialdini for the final moments. Not satisfied yet, the Frenchman managed to improve further, with the car finishing the session 0.070s clear.

Calamia and Roberto Pampanini held second ahead of Lawrence Tomlinson and Mike Simpson’s Ginetta as just 0.4s separated the top three. Wiskirchen and Wilhelm Kühne were fourth ahead of Härtling and Thilenius. Stefan Rosina and Lorenzo Marcucci completed the top six in the LP Racing Audi, with Philippe Prette continuing to set the tone in Masters in seventh overall aboard his LP-run Maserati.

Qualifying is set for 09:00 tomorrow.
